Face AR SDK v1.16.0: Improved Face Editing & Hair Segmentation

The latest release of Face AR SDK has some serious upgrades to popular features.

Upgraded hair segmentation

Hair segmentation is the core technology in hair dye try-on and other similar features. Banuba’s version has been among the most advanced ones, letting people color separate strands, apply gradient coloring, and use both natural and bright neon tones for maximum self-expression.

The development team has improved this technology further, especially in complex cases (e.g. with strands partially covered, near same-colored items, at the tips, etc.). This will improve the user experience and make try-on smoother.

Improved face editing

Face AR SDK lets your users change the shape and size of facial features. There are over 25 options that affect nose, ears, eyes, cheekbones, jaw, and more. It was one of the most customizable offerings on the market.

Now it has become more convenient for both users and developers, as the controls became more precise and the code has been modified to be easier to work with. On the surface, the difference is hard to notice, but when you start implementing face feature editing, the upgrade will become obvious.

Fixes:

  • Acne removal
  • Music playback on certain effects
